Wireless Tether for Root Users lets you create an ad-hoc WiFi and/or Bluetooth personal area network (PAN). This allows you to use your smartphone as router, meaning other WiFi-capable devices (such as your laptop) can connect to the internet using your phone's data connection. The app requires a rooted device as well as a netfilter-enabled kernel.
